Families in Onondaga County may be able to take advantage of these other income based assistance programs if they don’t qualify for subsidized child care:
Funded by the United Way of Central NY, the Community Child Care Scholarship is designed to help Onondaga County residents who are working manage the high cost of child care. Parents enrolled in certain educational or vocational programs may also qualify. There are certain family and income guidelines you must also meet; see the chart below or download a copy here. If you are part of a registered or licensed program and think the families you provide care for might benefit from this program, help us spread the word by downloading and posting this informational flyer!
For more information or to apply for the scholarship, call Child Care Solutions at (315) 446-1220 ext. 354.
Workforce Development Institute Child Care Subsidy Facilitated Enrollment Program:
WDI’s Child Care Subsidy Program helps eligible working families apply for financial assistance. Enrolled families receive income-based childcare subsidies to help offset the cost of child care. You will still be responsible for a portion of cost or a weekly fee which is determined by your family’s income. For more information on this program visitwww.wdiny.org/childcare.
Onondaga County residents can call WDI's Child Care Community Advocacy Coordinator, Brittany Buffum, at (315) 426-0378 to do a short prescreening to see if you’re eligible.
